The Berinfell Prophecies: Curse of the Spider King

I read the Curse of the Spider King by Wayne Thomas Batson and Christopher Hopper. It is without a doubt one of the best books I've ever read!

The back of the book says:

The Spider King's minions are crossing from Allyra to Earth to hunt for seven unsuspecting thirteen-year-olds, who are royalty from a foreign world. Stopped once by an ancient curse, the dark forces are determined to finish the job. It was so exciting! I can't wait for the next book to come out! A part I really liked was that the Spider King sends spies to Earth and you know who those spies are? Spiders. Little spiders. The very ones that crawl on your ceiling at night. Oh! When I read that, I started to see spiders everywhere! And the very night I read that part I got up to get a drink of water ( I was reading in bed) I saw a spider crawling on the ceiling of the kitchen. I glared up at it and said, "Hello spider. You aren't going to try and kill me!" and I killed it.

This is a must-read book.

Princess Academy

The next afternoon break, Miri joined the others outside. The sun's glare off the snow made her eyes water, but it seemed the most beautiful day Miri could remember. The sky was achingly blue. The snow that crunched under her boot spread over stone and hillock like spilled cream. The cold made the world feel clean and new, a day for beginnings.

DragonFire

I finished DragonFire!!!! It is a great book. But something bad happens to the main character. Oh, I was scared it wouldn't come out alright! As I go through the series they get more and more exciting. But I'm sad, for I'm almost done with the series. I ordered the last book from the library. It's just, I can't wait to finish them because I want to know what happens but I don't want one of the best books I've ever read to stop.

Anyway, everyone should read these books!

The City Of Ember

While I waited for DragonFire to come I started to read The City Of Ember. It is really good! It is about an underground city and the people who live there. The people had gone underground for safety and were not allowed to talk about it so that now the present generation does not realize they are living underground and there is the world up here. Will they find their way up when supplies start running out and the lights start going out????????


I'm going to watch the movie when I'm done with the second, and last, book.

Series of Unfortunate Events: Book the Seventh, The Vile Village, By Lemony Snicket

I had started reading this at the same time I was reading DragonKnight, but I put it down so I could finish DragonKnight. But since I finished it last night, I started The Vile Village again. I read the rest of it this morning. I had tried to read this a few years ago but I just couldn't get into it. At the request of a friend, I tried again, and well, he was right. I really liked it. I recommend this book and the rest of the series. The books are:

1. The Bad Beginning
2.The Reptile Room (one of my favorites)
3. The Wide Window
4. The Miserable Mill
5. The Austere Academy (another one of my favorites)
6. The Ersatz Elevator (again, a favorite of mine)
7. The Vile Village

There are 13 in all, but since these are the only ones I've read, (or listened to on tape) I'll only list these. Also, all the books are dedicated to a person named Beatrice. All the dedications are really weird and they are not suppose to be serious. But anyway, in the 7th book, I like the dedication. It says:

For Beatrice-
When we were together I felt breathless.
Now you are.

The books are about three siblings and their lives. A lot of bad (or Unfortunate) things happen to them. Their parents die and they are sent to live with a man named Count Olaf. He tries to kill them to get the fortunes that were left to them. Now, like the dedications, the books are not meant to be serious.

DragonKinght

I finished it!!!!!!!!! It is really, really good! I guess I said this about the other two, but I don't want to say much else because I don't want to ruin it for those who might read it. But I will say this, in the epilogue, I cried two times. Once because I was so sad, and again because I was so happy.

I'm now going to read a few books before the next one comes. They take so long to come because I have to get them from libraries that are far away.

The Best Way to Enjoy a Book

I like to enjoy a book as much as possible. The way to do this is:





1. If something is funny, laugh your heart out. Even if it's not that funny.





2. If something's sad, cry your eyes out, even if it's not that sad.





3. If something surprises you, scream your lungs out, even if it's not that exciting.





Now, you might be wondering how I ever read in a library. I don't. You also may be wondering how my family stands it when I read. They don't. I'll be reading in my room, ( which I share with my sister) and I'll be reading and then I make her jump to the ceiling when I burst out crying, screaming, or laughing. When it is time to turn off the lights at night, I'll be reading and she'll turn them off and I'll scream because I was " just coming to the good part ". She used to jump or scream too, but now she just tells me to be quiet and go to sleep. That's when I get my flashlight.

So if you do this, you might be heartless, eyeless, and lungless, but you'll have enjoyed the book a lot more.

Princess Academy

As I waited for DragonKnight to come, I read Princess Academy, which I have read before. I remembered how much I liked it and I just had to read it again. It is, like The Goose Girl, written by Shannon Hale. So very wonderfully written.
I recommend it. And, when winter comes, I have a part picked out to posted on this blog.

DragonKinght

I got the next one, DragonKnight. It is really nice. I am really glad my mom found the Dragon Keeper's series. They are just so wonderful. More and More things are happening that I just don't know what to think. I guess at things and I start thinking that it just has to end up in a certain way and then, BOOM! I get surprised.

DragonQuest

I finished it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is soooo very wonderful. there is so much change in it. So many exciting things. I completely recommend it.

Bella at Midnight

As I waited for the DragonQuest, (the next after DragonSpell) I read Bella at Midnight. I have read it once before and I really like it so I read it again. It is a wonderful story and is one that I recommend.
It is by Diane Stanley.

I'm done with Dragonspell.

I have been done with it for a few weeks now. It is a great book and I found out that is has at least 4 books in the series so I am getting the next one. When I'm done with next, I will tell you all about it.

And by the way, I recommend this book.

Ella Enchanted

That fool of a fairy Lucinda did not intend to lay a curse on me. She meant to bestow a gift. When I cried inconsolably through my first hour of life, my tears were her inspiration. Shaking her head sympathetically at mother, the fairy touched my nose.
"My gift is obedience. Ella will always be obedient. Now stop crying, child."
I stopped.

This is how the story starts. I love this book, it is one of my favorites! Gail Carson Levine did such great job at writing this. I've listened to it on tape at least ten times and read it twice I believe, that I know the first page by heart and I once knew the whole last chapter and epilogue. Speaking of the epilogue, I love the way it ends.
And so, with laughter and love, we lived happily ever after.

Cool Books

In this pic I am reading Isle of Fire. It is the last out of a two book series, Isle of Swords is the first. They are both great books. They are by Wayne Thomas Batson. He is my favorite author and author of my all time favorite books, The Door Within Trilogy. There are three books in the trilogy, 1. The Door Within, 2. The Rise of the Wyrm Lord, and 3. The Final Storm.

I recommend all five of these books.

The Goose Girl

She was born with her eyes closed and a word on her tongue, a word she could not taste. Her name was Anidori-Kiladra Talianna Isilee,Crown Princess of Kildenree,and she spent the first years of her life listening to her aunt's stories and learning the language of the birds, especially the swans. When she was older, she watched as a colt was born, and she heard the first word on his tongue, his name, Falada.



I love this book. A wonderful Fairy tale by Shannon Hale. I recommend it.

However, there are two other books in this series, Enna Burning and River Secrets. I don't recommend these. They have problems. The Goose Girl does not leave you hanging so you don't need to read the other two to know what happens. The other two books are merely about other people from The Goose Girl. Not about the main character , Anidori.

Dragon Spell

I'm reading this really cool book called Dragon Spell. It is about a girl (her name is Kale) who was once a slave but was set free and she needs to learn the difference between being a slave and being a servant ( to Wulder) . It is written by a christian author. Her name is Donita K. Paul. I haven't finished it yet but so far it is good.

Intro

This blog will be all about books. ( hence the name) I hope that all I write and all I read will bring glory to God. So now, I'll start posting.
